Oakham Select Board Unanimously Reaffirms Vote to Fix Unposted Election Warrant
OAKHAM — May 22, 2026 — Oakham Select Board reaffirms emergency vote seeking state legislation to validate flawed May 18 election. Meeting just three minutes at 12:03 p.m. Friday, the three-member board — Chair Dennis Bergen, Michael Burnell, and Maribel LaRange — voted unanimously to reconfirm its Tuesday emergency authorization requesting the governor file special legislation to "ratify, validate, and confirm" the town's May 18, 2026 annual election, which was held without a properly voted or posted warrant. LaRange reported that the town's state delegation had already acted: "Senator Durant and Rep Barthium have signed, or their offices have submitted to the governor's office for this, so they're on board." The board also confirmed the annual town meeting warrant would close as scheduled at 3 p.m. the same day, with warrant articles to be reviewed at Tuesday's meeting.
