Board of Selectmen · Meeting of October 20, 2026

Oakham officials briefed department heads on a proposed $550,000 Proposition 2.5 override. The Board of Selectmen and Finance Committee met jointly Tuesday and presented a six-year forecast showing costs rising faster than revenue. Presenters said fiscal 2027 expenses rose 8 percent against 4.5 percent revenue growth, leaving a gap of about $400,000, and that free cash fell to $94,000 from $212,000.

They said the first-year levy would rise about $320,000 to $350,000. One participant said "There's no place left to cut." No override vote was taken, and a special election is expected in early 2027. Both bodies adjourned at 8:34 p.m.
