Oakham Board of Health Adopts One-Day Food Permit, Delegates Hauler Approvals to Lester

OAKHAM — January 9, 2025 — Oakham Board of Health adopts $25 one-day food permit and delegates hauler permit authority to regional contractor. Meeting as a two-member board after a prospective third member, Jessica Toulis, declined appointment due to scheduling conflicts, the board voted unanimously January 9 to add the new permit — half the standard $50 food permit fee — to the town website, a step prompted by a resident's request for a single-day permit for a local Oktoberfest event. The board also authorized its regional public health contractor, Lester, to process permits for three septic haulers — American Sewage, Scotty Potties, and a new applicant, DuPont Septic — and any future hauler with complete paperwork on file. Clerk Sue Collette reported $1,378 in back payments to medical waste vendor Stericycle, resolved after a billing gap caused by an incorrect email address on file, and $975 paid to a contractor for septic reviews. The board agreed to hold its fiscal year 2026 budget flat at approximately $3,000 to $4,000, with no increase requested.
