Oakham Finance Committee Approves $6,736 Insurance Reserve Transfer Unanimously
OAKHAM — October 9, 2025 — Oakham Finance Committee approves $6,736 reserve fund transfer to cover an insurance premium shortfall. Meeting just six minutes Thursday, the three-member panel — Chair Corey Packard, Claire Hendroth, and remotely attending Steve Dollinger — unanimously approved the draw from the town's $30,000 reserve fund to pay a gap in the MIIA property and casualty insurance premium. The shortfall stemmed from two problems: an incorrect premium figure originally submitted to the Board of Selectmen and a carry-over shortage from fiscal year 2024 to 2025 that was not factored into the fiscal year 2026 appropriation. The town had already vouched $30,257 against the insurance account in September, leaving a present balance of $47,743. The transfer leaves the reserve fund at roughly $23,264 for the remainder of the fiscal year.
